Spiritual Air Freshener: Undivided Heart

Even if you're a Christian, lots of things might be dividing your heart. Money. Greed. Fame. Pride. Lust. Fear. King David prayed for a heart totally committed to God. He wanted a heart that was undivided:

Teach me your way, O Lord, and I will walk in your truth; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name. I will praise you, O Lord my God, with all my heart; I will glorify your name forever.' (Psalm 86:11, 12)

A former pastor of mine once said, "Show me your calendar and checkbook and I'll show you what's important in their life." You can tell someone's priorites by looking at what he/she spends their time and money on. How much of your checkbook have you given to God?

Putting God first means having an undivided heart. What would you have to give up or change in your life to do that? What relationship? What TV shows? What movies? What music?

Are you willing to do that?

The problem with most people isn't that they refuse to worship God; they refuse to give Him first place in everything. Their lives are segmented into little compartments. God goes over here. Relationships over here. Homework over there. My job over there.

Jesus wants to permeate ALL areas of your life. Not just live in His designated area of your heart while you manage the remaining compartments.

When you allow Jesus into every compartment, you no longer have a heart that's divided.

And He deserves nothing less.
